DRACO Extenders: Exceptional quality for KVM and DVI applications

Building upon IHSE’s successful DVX range, the new DRACO Extender product line provides the highest quality DVI video transmission through the use of state-of-the-art compression technology; offering  24-bit colour with judder-free playback of full HD video.

This digital technology enables long extension distances and reliable data transmission with no discernable loss in video quality: much further than other short-range extenders without video compression where quality degrades with cable length.

The Draco Extender series is designed for use as a standalone extension solution, or in conjunction with all Draco matrix switches. Distances exceeding 120m may be realized over copper (CATx) cabling, and 10km over single-mode fibre.

All Draco extenders support DVI-D (single-link) video (1080p) and USB HID (Human Interface Devices) as standard. Additional interface options include: multi-head video, USB 2.0 (transparent), analogue or digital audio, and VGA input (DVI-I).

Basic System Overview

The Draco Extender family is available in two chassis styles: Compact or Vario.

The Compact Chassis is narrow and is ideal for medium-density rack mounting or desktop applications.
All connectors are located on the rear-panel. Due to its small form-factor, only certain interface combinations are available with this chassis option.

The Vario Chassis is modular accepting cards to support any desired interface combination. e.g. triple-head video with USB2.0 and audio. A number of different Vario chassis are available housing 2, 4, 6, and even 21 cards, to support all requirements from desktop through to high-density racks.
Vario chassis with more than four slots(feature an integral PSU. A redundant PSU option is available for all Vario Chassis.

All Draco Extenders provide a front-panel multi-function LED status display and are upgradeable via a dedicated USB service port.

There are many options available, so please ask us to specify a configuration to match your exact requirement.

All Draco Extender Vario models are available with CatX, Multimode, or Singlemode interfaces.

Note: Option cards are used in conjunction with Main cards having the required (shared) media interface. Standalone cards (USB 2.0) are independent of Main & Option cards and require their own (exclusive) media interface.
For Multi-Head configurations, one main card per video channel will be required

Numerous chassis are available to suit any ergonomic requirement and Draco Extender card configuration. All chassis have rack mount options available.

Note: All chassis are supplied with a single PSU. Products which are ‘Redundant PSU Capable’ do not include a secondary PSU as standard.
